The journey begins in Auckland, a city that is home to 1.5 million of New Zealand's 4.5 million people. It was one of two cities where Tom's father was stationed in WWII, the other being Wellington.
The picture below was taken in Albert Park, a beautiful garden only a few steps from our hotel.
Also from the park we had a clear view of the Sky Tower where we would have dinner a little later in the week. The tower is about 300 meters high and dinner and drinks were about $1 per meter!
