Hobart: No Tasmanian Devils

After leaving Dunedin, NZ and knowing our next port would be an Australian one, the main dining room served up what they termed a "Destination Dish" appetizer dish of skewered crocodile and kangaroo with a chardonnay and Vegemite sauce.  Actually, it was quite good, even the Vegemite prepared this way was palatable!  Yes, the crocodile tasted like chicken!  The kangaroo tasted something like veal.

It was a dreary day so we chose to stay on board.  We were docked very close to town so could have a look at the main city center from the ship.   From the Observation Lounge, a look down at the docks and the main part of the city.
Closer to the windows, a closer look at the city of Hobart.  Yes, it did start to clear up but, we still chose to stay on board.  The ship ran a shuttle bus about every 20 minutes to the city center and a lot of folks used that.
Walking past the gangway, I heard two folks just returning to the ship talking about not seeing any "Tasmanian Devils".  Apparently, they asked someone in town about them and had been advised it was unlikely they would see any.  Guess they didn't realize that the heavily populated areas are not over-run with the wild animals!!

The passage way, known as Storm Bay, whence we came in from the Tasman Sea, aka "The Ditch", and through which we'll pass through later this evening as we head out on our way to Melbourne.
After Hobart, we will spend a day at sea.  Storm Bay will take us back to the Tasman Sea where we'll head north around the west of Tasmania and then into the Bass Strait where we'll be cruising tomorrow.
